Young Professional Award Criteria

The Young Professional Award will be presented annually to those in the field of parks and recreation and current members of VRPA.

Selection Criteria

  • Candidate should have a degree in the recreation, parks, or a related field.
  • Has been employed for a period of at least two years in the State of Vermont and no more than ten years, in the profession and is currently employed in the Parks and Recreation field.
  • The individual must exhibit leadership, creativity and must have made significant contributions over a period of time in the profession.
  • The nominee must be a current member of VRPA and have displayed evidence of active participation in VRPA and their community.
  • Special consideration given to those nominees who are certified by a recognized recreation certification plan.

Complete the attached nomination form. All nominees will be sent a form to fill out with their full history and accomplishments. Please submit nominee forms to:

Notification

The member submitting this nomination will be notified that their nominee has been selected to receive this award approximately two weeks before the VRPA Annual Meeting. They shall be responsible for making arrangements for the nominee to be present at the Annual Meeting to receive this award. Every effort should be made to keep this selection confidential so that it can be announced at the meeting. The member nominating the recipient may also be responsible for assisting the awards committee in gathering any additional information which may be needed for the presentation of the award.
