Parks Maintenance Technician

The Town of Essex Parks and Recreation (P&R) Department is receiving applications for full time employment as a Parks Maintenance Technician.

Under the direct supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director, and the general direction of the Parks and Maintenance Tech Level II, and the Park Maintenance Foreman, the Park Maintenance Technician works to effectively implement safe, aesthetically pleasing, and functional grounds and facilities for the public to enjoy in support of the development, maintenance, and stewardship of a comprehensive system of recreational services.

Applicants are encouraged to apply who have a high school diploma or GED, a valid drivers license, and a minimum of two years’ overall relevant experience.  Plowing experience and a CDL are a plus! The Town of Essex is open to working with candidates with a variety of experience and qualifications, and support on-the-job training for this role. The starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.  This is a full-time hourly position that is covered by our AFSCME union contract. Essex Junction Recreation & Parks

Program Director - Older Adults

Essex Junction Recreation & Parks (EJRP) is seeking a Program Director – Older Adults.  The right candidate will have a spark for working with older adults (55+) and a genuine interest and care to support them and meet their recreational needs.  This position will be responsible for supporting the Essex Area Senior Center and other activities and events that take place outside of the Center.  The most important quality is to be able to engage, communicate with, and listen to senior community members.  

This position will research, plan, and implement educational, recreational, and affordable programming.  Prior experience working with seniors is a huge plus.  The ability to coordinate logistics, budget, see the big picture, and manage relationships is critical.  Quality candidates should have good written communication, be comfortable engaging with community members, and be resourceful in identifying grant and sponsorship funding sources.  Experience creating newsletters, flyers, and visually appealing marketing materials will be valuable.  While there are currently some staple programs for this age group, there is a lot of opportunity for a new program director to explore and build a wide range of programs to meet the desires of our senior community.

RECREATION CENTER MANAGER 

Starting salary $58,000 - $63,000 w/ an excellent benefits package. 

The Town of Colchester is excited to announce a full-time opportunity for the upcoming opening of its new Recreation Center. This energetic and customer service-minded professional will, as part of the Town’s Parks and Recreation Department, be involved in staff management, budgeting, scheduling, development and coordination of facility programs and special events.

Coordinates, schedules and organizes operational staff, as well as contractors who provide recreational, educational or cultural programs. Develops, markets, implements and evaluates a variety of programs, including analysis of costs and funding sources. Monitors and evaluates the quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of programs, identifies opportunities for improvement, and participates in the development and implementation of Departmental goals.

Requirements:  Excellent communication and customer service skills, bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration, Sports Management, Business Management, or related field, and two years of supervisory experience in fitness, recreation, programming or leisure services. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be qualifying.

Parks & Recreation Assistant Director


The Town of Springfield, VT is looking for an Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation.  This is a full-time; non-exempt position with an excellent benefit and retirement package. Position requires graduation from a college or university of recognized standing with a Bachelor’s Degree based on a major in Parks & Recreation Leadership; or Sports Management; or Physical Education. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of at least one year of proven, successful, and progressive experience in recreation leadership. Candidates may substitute a combination of education, training, and experience, especially experience within a municipal setting. Applicant must have or will be trained for a Vermont Certified Pool Operator Certificate, OSHA Required Respirator knowledge and usage. First Aid Certification and renewal required, and CPR Certification and renewal required for Adults & Children.
