In 2010, the Vermont Recreation and Parks Association re-introduced the annual Maintenance Workshop. We were happy to bring back this workshop designed specifically for the men and women who maintain our parks and recreation facilities. The Maintenance Workshop was held at Middlebury College. The schedule included a full morning of small group site visits to a variety of indoor and outdoor athletic and recreation facilities available at Middlebury College. After lunch, delegates chose three of six available roundtable discussions about specific maintenance topics. The delegate evaluations confirmed that this event provided a good opportunity to network with volunteer counterparts from around the state about issues you face in the maintenance end of parks and recreation services in your community.
In 2011, VRPA is working with the New Hampshire Recreation and Parks Association (NHRPA) and the New England Sports Turf Managers Association (NESTMA) to host a VT/NH Maintenance Workshop. The location will be Dartmouth College and the Richard Black Community Center in Hanover, NH. The date will be Wednesday, April 27th. The schedule will include field demonstrations, a campus tour, vendors and equipment demos, a keynote speaker and a variety of roundtable discussions.
